Catch McDonald's Mighty Chicken Wings now available in Chicago.  Report from the Associated Press says McDonald's chicken wings are being sold in servings of three, five or ten pieces with prices starting at $3. It is being offered with the default creamy ranch sauce. The test has been expanded in at least 500 restaurants in Chicago, the most populous city in the U.S. state of Illinois, after a successful run in Atlanta in 2012, the report said. McDonald’s, the world’s largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, could be adding “Mighty Wings” to its chicken menu once the test in Chicago yields successful results.

McDonald's reported higher than expected earnings for its second quarter, driven by strong global growth. Comparable sales and store traffic increased across all segments, the fast-food giant said. Shares jumped 2.7% as a result. Net profit was $1.4 billion, or $1.35 per share, up from $1.2 billion or $1.13 per share in the year-ago quarter. Sales increased 16% to $6.9 billion during the quarter, as global comparablesales increased 5.6%. Analysts were expecting profit of $1.28 per share on revenue of $6.6 billion. Operating income grew 34% in the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa segment, led by strong sales in China. Robust performance in France, the U.K. and Russia led to a 24% increase in Europe (19% excluding currency impacts), and in the U.S. operating income grew 6%. Subway is the new king of fast food, by one measure anyway. According to the Wall Street Journal, by the end of 2010 you could "eat fresh" at 33, 749 Subway locations across the globe. McDonald's had a measly 32,737 stores worldwide and claims it's now focusing on getting better, not just bigger. About 24,000 of Subway's restaurants are located in the United States, but a spokesman for the company says it expects its international spots to exceed that number by 2020.
