Florida Beauty Variegata Price Update and Propagation Tips

Florida Beauty is one of the most "Wish Plants" for rare plant collectors. The design of its leaves is unique and rare compared to other Philodendron plants. I bought my Florida Beauty with three medium-sized leaves for P35,000 in 2021. I have propagated it and sold some for a good price at the last quarter of 2021 for P10,000 per leaf.   The price of Florida Beauty drops in 2022 to P2,000 per medium-sized leaf and as of this writing, you can already buy Florida Beauty for P800.00 to P1200 for a big leaf.  Care Tips and Propagation: You can use a mixture of coco peat, coco cubes, pumice, and loam soil in propagation. It is good if you will let aerial roots climb a plant pole to activate their roots before cutting and transplanting. Put the propagation on a shaded area for 7 to 10 days before moving to a spot with bright indirect sunlight. Use Osmocote 14-14-14 as fertilizer to enhance its variegation. Water the plant twice or three times during summer. The leaves of Flori...

Why you should not buy Monstera Thai Cons?

Monstera Thai Cons can be grown through tissue cultured. Which means it can be reproduced in mass numbers. Unlike Monstera Borsigiana Albo which can be propagated only by stem cuttings. And what does it mean. Anytime soon the supply of this plant will be greater than the demand and the producer of the plant mostly from Thailand will have to decrease its price.   I remember I have watch one plant vlogger and she said that she bought her Thai Cons (big size) before pandemic for only nine hundred pesos. And during pandemic the price of medium thai cons skyrocketed to forty thousand to eighty thousand and big size or extra large would cost as much as one hundred thousand pesos. I suggest for the buyer to wait the price drop before buying this beautiful pant. Because from personal experience, I have my medium size Thai Cons with only three leaves in 2021 for sixteen thousand pesos. This time you can but such for only three thousand five hundred to four thousand pesos. I believed in...

Most Popular Rare Plants in the Philippines- Price Update 2023

During the pandemic, people tend to become more "horticulturists" as they engage themselves to planting and collecting rare plants from Thailand, China, Hooland (The Netherland) and Ecuador. In the Philippines prices of  Monstera Delciosa green and Thai Constellation in 2020 skyrocketed to five thousand peso  and twenty thousand pesos for the medium size with only 2 leaves respectively. But before the pandemic according to real collectors. who's collecting rare plants prior to the pandemic, the price of  Monstera Thai Constellation for medium size is only nine hundred pesos.  I am not aware of the price of Variegated Philodendron Billitiae but during the peak of a pandemic the price of one leaf cost staggering two hundred thousand peso per leaf, and as much as four hundred thousand peso for one leafer Monstera Adansonii Albo. You cannot imagine how the price of plants multiplied due to limited stocks and limited importation due to heightened alerts in terminals. Nowa...

Monstera Adansonii Aurea and Albo Care Tips and Propagation Method

Monstera Adansonii is another kind of Monstera plant. It is easy to grow and care with. The plant needs to be placed in bright indirect sunlight since it is a variegated type of Adansonii. Before the price of one leaf Adansonii Albo cost aroung half a million peso. But now you can buy a one-leafer palnt for as low as one thousand peso only. Just like most of my premium plants, I have bought the mother plant imported from Thailand with almost 3 to 5 leaves only. But since the size is juvenile it takes time to thrive and produce more leaves. Although once it starts producing new leaves then it will sprout new leaves every two to three weeks. Pot: It needs a well-draining pot. Make sure the commercial plastic pot you will use is well-draining since most of the available in the market doesn't have a provision for holes. Watering: water when dry, avoid over-watering. Medium: loam soil, coco cubes, cocopeat, pumice. The photos below are my actual propagations from two days ago. Once it a...

Matured Sized Borsi Albo Propagation

See how beautiful this propagation of mine. A big matured sized leaves Monstera Borsigiana Albo Japan Cultivar. I have bought the mother plant imported from Holland. I place it in a high humidity environment with  filtered sun and it seems he likes it as it thrives very well. In 2021, this plant was very costly with one leaf for Php 50,000. I bought my plant sometime in the last quarter of 2021 which cost 65,000 with two stems already. This propagation of mine with seven big leaves was sold for Php30,000. It has a very good gene which you can tell from its petiole alone. Stay tuned as I will share more gardening tips from some of my rare plant collections.
