The Department of Health believes that Senate Sin Tax Bill approval a victory for health. Secretary of Health Enrique T. Ona lauds yesterday’s passage of Senate Bill 3299 (also known as the Sin Tax Bill ), with 15 senators voting for it and only two voting against. “The passage of this bill is a victory in our campaign to protect our people, especially the young and the poor, from the ill effects of smoking and excessive drinking. At the same time, the additional revenues will be used to fund the expansion of PhilHealth enrolment to the second poorest 20 percent of our population, upgrade and modernize our hospitals and other health facilities, and expand our existing preventive and promotive programs under Kalusugan Pangkalahatan,” Ona said. The Senate approved version of the bill is estimated to generate incremental revenues of P40 billion in the first year of implementation. Here's Idol sa Kusina Recipe for Episode 43- FRIED CORNED BEEF BALLS. Ingredients: 500g corned beef 6 pcs. eggs 1 pc. white onion 1 clove garlic 4 loaves bread, white part only, soaked in fresh milk ½ cup fresh milk 30g spring onion 30g celery 1 cup rice 100g all-purpose flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. white pepper For garnish: julienne carrots and julienne pumpkin Procedure: 1. Saute onion, garlic, celery. Add corned beef. season with salt and pepper. Set aside. 2. On mixing bowl, add bread loaves, spring onion, beaten egg, all-purpose flour. Combine all together. 3. Form into balls and deep fry in hot oil until golden brown and set aside. 4. Saute white rice in butter. Add beaten egg, turn once until done. 5. Place on plate over top with corned beef balls.
