Two victim of Sars-like Coronavirus has been reported in Saudi Arabia and in Qatar. Philippine Authorities have then issued an advisory to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia and Qatar to be alerted against a SARS-like Coronavirus. Coronaviruses typically spread like other flu viruses. They are likely to be passed from person to person when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Doctors at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) quarantine section encouraged OFWs to observe proper personal hygiene to avoid getting the virus which is fatal if symptoms are not immediately treated. The US Food and Drugs Administration said the Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter (sku 97111) was recalled by Trader Joe’s “because of potential contamination with Salmonella.”, as warrned by FDA. The recalled Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter comes in a 16 ounce, plastic jar with an expiration date stamped below the lid, the FDA further said, adding that all code dates up to and including July 26, 2013 are included in the recall. “Production and distribution of the item has been suspended while the FDA and the Valencia Peanut Butter supplier continue their investigations,” the notice said. Meanwhile, Mexico-based company Sunland Inc., which reportedly manufactures and packages the Trader Joe’s product, likewise recalled 76 types of peanut butter and almond butter. A Sunland spokeswoman explained they’re doing the recall as the peanut and almond butters were manufactured with the same equipment as the Trader Joe’s product.

According to the report from AFP, Health researchers said on Thursday they had found a troubling link between higher consumption of rice and Type 2 diabetes, a disease that in some countries is becoming an epidemic. Further work is need to probe the apparent association and diets that are notoriously high in sugar and fats should remain on the no-go list, they cautioned. "What we've found is white rice is likely to increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes, especially at high consumption levels such as in Asian populations," Qi Sun of the Harvard School of Public Health told AFP.
