Ang pambansang puno? Narra!
Ang pambansang bulaklak? Sampaguita!
Ang pambansang bayani? Si Jose Rizal!
Eh ang pambansang ulam?…
Tulad ng ibang pambansang sagisag, ang national dish daw ang sumisimbolo sa katangian nating mga Pilipino, lalong lalo na ang ating mayamang panlasa at kultura.
Sa dami ng ating masasarap na pagkain, tila nga ba kay hirap pumili ng pinakamasarap! Subalit mayroon daw dapat mamukod tangi sa lahat… At itanghal na pambansang pagkain ng Pilipinas…
Adobo o Sinigang?
Alin nga kaya ang dapat hiranging pinakamasarap at pinakasikat na pagkain ng mga Pilipino? Ang Adobo at Sinigang, magtatapat na!
Si Nancy Lumen, bihasang-bihasa na sa pagluluto. Ang specialty n’ya, ang malinamnam na adobo! Pero hindi lang basta-basta si Nancy, dahil siya daw ang Adobo Queen! Maipaglaban kaya n’ya na ang Adobo nga ang karapatdapat na tanghaling national dish?
Sa Baguio, dalawang kakaibang sinigang naman ang aming natuklasan! Imbes na kamias o sampalok ang ginagamit na pampaasim.. ang pinagmamalaki nilang prutas na “strawberry” at ang exotic na “rattan fruit” ang nagbigay ng kakaibang sarap sa kanilang sinigang!
Manalo na kaya ang pambato nilang pagkain?
Sa isang social experiment, “on the spot” kaming kumuha ng dalawang kalahok para sa isang cooking challenge! Makapagluto kaya sila ng kani-kanilang version ng adobo at sinigang?
